WHAT IS A PMO & WHY YOUR BUSINESS NEEDS IT
According to the 4-year study by LeadershipIQ.com, after interviewing 1,087 board members from 286 public, private, business and healthcare organizations, they found that 31% of Chief Executive Offices (CEOs) get fired for poor change management. This presentation explores the good practice and different options available to ensure effective project management while managing change. Project, Programme, and Portfolio Management Offices (PMOs) have a range of functions, and the services they offer often depend on the maturity of the organisations and the skills of their people. Starting with exploring the meaning of PMOs and what managing change means in today’s business. We’ll look at building blocks of how to establish a PMO Function, types of PMOs and PMO roles in supporting organisational changes. Both Technology and Business Transformations rely heavily on having the appropriate skillsets available for managing change. This is where an effective PMO delivers true value for money. Sunchana confidently gives practical advice interweaving her project management skillsets into managing change. The spotlight is on creating the right framework for both functional teams, change and project management teams for the benefits of all parties. This is an inspirational story about gaining good understanding and acceptance of the PMO functions. Originally from Croatia, Sunchana is an independent P3O PMO Governance & Planning Consultant and has been running her own company since 2010, based in Scotland, UK. Sunchana is a Fellow of the Association for Project Management (APM), Committee member and volunteer for APM Scotland. Sunchana has accomplished a great deal for corporate and public-sector clients in a career spanning over 20 years in PMO, Regulatory, Business Change and Technology Transformations in delivering key strategic programmes worth up to 2 billion GBP. Sunchana worked on the London Olympics in 2012. She managed several large, complex consultancy programme engagements in financial services and public sector (DWP). During 2018/19 she has been engaged for a large financial services company in the UK on the Brexit Programme.
